Vidal Golosinas
The Spanish leading company in the sugar confectionery sector, Vidal Candies, headquartered in Molina de Segura (Murcia), reaffirms its commitment to an energy model that favours the improvement and conservation of the environment and puts into operation the largest photovoltaic plant for self-consumption in the Region of Murcia. The installation, carried out by the company Nextenergy Generación, has a total of 7,000 solar panels. More than 14,000 m2 cover the roof of its production centers and helps to prevent the emission of 1,700 tons of CO2 per year. These 345-watt peak photovoltaic panels will reduce by 12% of Vidal's current electricity consumption, generating 4,387,676 kWh, equivalent to the annual consumption of electricity and gas of 880 4-person households.
“We have set out to take an important step in our commitment to the conservation of resources and their sustainable use. The recent incorporation of photovoltaic panels will mean a great reduction in CO2 emissions as well as energy savings”, the company affirms and explains that “this is a qualitative leap in our environmental policy. Already in the summer of 2019 all of our electricity supply became 100% renewable. Caring for the planet is everyone's job. We continue working to reduce our impact on the environment, maintaining the objective of satisfying our consumers by offering excellent-quality products under the premises of efficiency and sustainability."
Furthermore, for the past year, all the energy consumed by the Vidal group of companies has been certified 100% from renewable origin, thus avoiding the emission of 20,986 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. The energy is supplied by the electricity and gas trading company Helioelec, accredited by the National Commission of Markets and Competition as a 100% renewable energy company.
